Water and electricity <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Please pay attention to the use of water and electricity on Curacao. The cost are very high, so we advise to use the air-conditioning only during the night. This prevents also the entrance of mosquitoes. We work currently with a Pagatinu. This is a devise were we put 100 euro electricity on. Wenn this is finish Andy can show you were you can but extra electricity. In normall use without airconditioning this amount is enough for the whole holiday. How more you use airco, how more the cost will be.<\/p>\n

The water is from a very high quality and can be used as drinking water as well.<\/p>\n

Please use this also with some care. It is very expensif.<\/p>\n

Park Rules:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

You are located on a very good spot in Mambo. However from 21 to 9 in the morning there is no disco music ore loud music allowed. The Guards are checking frequently on this matter to avoid any mis behavior.<\/p>\n

Smoking is NOT allowed in the house ore balcony of the house and apartments. Please go outside for smoking.<\/p>\n

WHAT TIMEZONE IS CURA\u00c7AO IN?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cura\u00e7ao is situated in the Atlantic Standard Time -0400 UTC zone. Cura\u00e7ao does not observe daylight savings time, so during summer we’ll be in the same timezone as US’s East Coast and during winter we’ll be one hour ahead. From Europe, during summer the time difference with Western Europe is 6 hours, but during winter the difference is 5 hours.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT CURA\u00c7AO?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Because the weather is rarely\/never an issue (always approx. 30-32 degrees), many people plan their vacation in Cura\u00e7ao around what there is to do on the island. The Cura\u00e7ao Carnival period (February and March) is always immensely popular with all kinds of different parties and of course the many parades during the last 10 days of Carnival. In April we have events like the Cura\u00e7ao International Film Festival Rotterdam and King’s Day, and there’s always something to do during the summer holidays. In late August through early September, the Cura\u00e7ao North Sea Jazz Festival is a great festival to visit. December to early January is also a special time to be in Cura\u00e7ao, with a bevy of parties and time-honored events like the pagaras and fireworks shows during the last week of the year, New Year’s Eve parties, the Unox New Year’s Splash, and of course Fuik Day.<\/p>\n

HOW NECESSARY IS INSECT REPELLENT ON THE ISLAND?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Mosquitos are a nuisance but they can also carry diseases, so it’s best to avoid getting stung altogether. Mosquitos are most active around dusk and dawn and you’ll see more than usual a day or two after rainfall. The use of repellents is one of the most effective ways to protect your family against mosquitoes. Use it on all exposed parts of the body. If you are using sun protection, apply that first and then use the insect repellent.<\/p>\n

Choose a repellent containing the active ingredient DEET. Products containing Picaridin, Oil of lemon, eucalyptus or IR3535 are also effective<\/p>\n

WHAT IS THE CURRENCY USED IN CURA\u00c7AO?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The currency used in Cura\u00e7ao is the Antillean Guilder (ANG), also called the Florin. The Antillean Guilder’s exchange rate is fixed to the US Dollar at a price of 1 USD = 1.80 ANG. When exchanging money at a bank the exchange rate is 1.78 or 1.82 ANG, depending on if you’re buying or selling.<\/p>\n

You can use US Dollars everywhere in Cura\u00e7ao. In stores and restaurants and such the exchange rate used is usually 1 USD = 1.75 ANG for ease of calculation.<\/p>\n

WILL USD OR EUR BE ACCEPTED IN CURA\u00c7AO?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

You can use US Dollars everywhere in Cura\u00e7ao, but Euros can only be used to exchange at a bank. The Antillean Guilder’s exchange rate is fixed to the US Dollar at a price of 1 USD = 1.80 ANG. Our houses and apartments do have 220V outlets. These outlets are easily identified, as they require the standard European plug.<\/p>\n

IS IT OK TO DRINK THE TAP WATER IN CURA\u00c7AO?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Not only is Cura\u00e7ao’s water safe to drink, it is of the finest quality.<\/p>\n

Around 1890, American wind turbines were imported to Cura\u00e7ao for irrigation of the land. In 1928, a seawater distillery for production of drinking water was put into production. This Cura\u00e7ao distillery, now known as Aqualectra, produces water of excellent quality. It is soft, contains no chloride and little calcium, is tasteless and odorless, and has a good bacteriological composition<\/p>\n

WHAT IS THE DRINKING AGE IN CURA\u00c7AO?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n
